Why Stability is our First Priority at our Oxton Home
From Danielle King, registered manager for Salis in The North:
Why “Stability” is our first priority in our Oxton Home ⚓
For a young person who has experienced the care system, “stability” is more than a word, it’s the foundation for everything else. Mental health, education, and employment only thrive when a person feels safe, settled, and supported.
As we move through the CQC registration process, we are focusing heavily on how Salis Care – Oxton Hub can serve as a true launchpad for Care Experienced young adults.
We know that independence is a journey, not a destination. That’s why we’ve designed our service to be a stable base in every sense:
The Heart of the Home: Our large shared kitchen is more than just a communal space; it’s a classroom. Here, we can host cooking and budgeting sessions to ensure every young adult gains the practical life skills needed for the future.
Connected to the Community: Location matters. Being centrally based in Oxton, we are within walking distance of local amenities and key transport links, reducing isolation and keeping our young adults connected to education and work.
A Strategic Resource: By providing this nurturing foundation during those first vital years of adulthood, we aim to reduce the risk of crisis and long-term dependency on services.
To our Local Authority partners and Leaving Care Teams: We invite your expert input during this pre-opening phase to ensure our pathways align perfectly with your local sufficiency strategies. We want to build this service with you to ensure it meets the specific needs of the young people you support.
Let’s talk about how we can provide the stable base your care leavers deserve.
